Dayton to La Guardia Airport collided in fog over NYC, crashed in two boroughs, 134 people died, 1 child survived ![]() 1960 December 17th. Germany, Munich: A Twin Engine Convair 346 experienced engine difficulties a few minutes after take-off from Munich/Riem airport. The plane struck the tower of a downtown church and crashed into a major street. Burning fuel set fire to a tramcar. All 20 people aboard the pane and 32 passengers of the tram died. 1961 January USA, New York: Aeronares de Mexico airplane, few people died 1961 February 15th. Belgium, Brussels (Berg?): Sabena Boeing 707 crashed, 72 people on board and 1 resident died 1961 May 10th. Libya, Ghadames: Air France Starliner 1961 July 11th. USA, Colorado, Denver-Stapleton Airport: United Airlines DC-8, flight 859 with 129 people on board experienced an hydraulic failure during the flight; during an emergency landing at Stapleton airfield two tires blew out, forcing the plane to veer off the runway. It crashed into construction equipment and caught fire; Fire-fighting and rescue efforts were initiated by an understaffed and ill-equipped ARFF department, using vehicles from the 1940's. USA, Iowa/ Missouri Border: Continental Air Lines Boeing 707, mid-air explosion due to a suicide bomber, all 45 people died 1962 June 3rd. France, Paris: French Boeing 707 airliner crashed, 130 people died 1962 June 22nd. West Indies, Guadaloupe: Air France Boeing 707 1962 July 7th.India, Bombay: Alitia DC-8 1962 November 27th.Peru, Lima: Vvarig Airlines Boeing 707 1962 December 14 USA, California, Los Angeles, Laurel Canyon: A Lockheed Super Constellation crashed into a residential area and came to its final rest short of a 100-unit apartment building. Impact and fire damaged 29 other buildings; all 5 people aboard and at least 3 persons on the ground died. 1963 February 1, Turkey, Ankara: Mid-air collision of a Lebanese Middle East Airlines Vickers Viscount 754 and a Turkish Air Force Douglas C-47; the aircrafts felt into separate parts of the city; all 17 occupants of the planes were killed; on the ground 87 people died and more than 50 were injured.
1963 February 12th. USA, Miami: Northwest Airlines Boeing 720, broke up in flight over the Everglades shortly after
takeoff from Miami Airport, all 43 people died 1963 June 3rd. USA, Alaska, Anchorage: Northwest DC-7 charter 1963 September 4th. Switzerland, Zurich: Swissair Caravelle III, flight SR 206 en-route from Zurich to Geneva; one of the landing wheels broke away during take-off, the wheel's brake mechanism overheated while high engine power was used during slow taxiing on the ground; this caused an undetected fire in the retracted port undercarriage, while the aircraft was climbing; the intensifying fire caused a loss of power for the control systems and structural damage; the plane finally came to a steep dive and crashed into a farm; all 80 people aboard died.
1963 November 27th (29th?). Canada, Montreal: Trans-Canada jet airliner DC-8F crashed, all 118 people died 1963 December 8th. USA, Maryland, Elkton: Pan American Boeing 707 coming from Baltimore, was struck by lightning, igniting fuel vapor in wing reserve tank, mid-air explosion during landing approach at Philadelphia; all 81 people on board died

Braniff International Airways BAC-111 en route to Omaha, NE was caught in flight by
extreme gust, that caused the starboard wing to rupture and fuel vapors to explode;

after take off in very bad weather conditions (snowstorm), all 82 people died 1966 December 24th. South Vietnam, Binh Thai: Military-chartered C-44 crashed into village, 129 people died 1967 February 10th. Switzerland: SwissAir CV-440 crashed during training mission, 4 people died 1967 April 20th. Cyprus, Nicosia: Swiss Globe Britannia crashed into mountain, 126 people died 1967 June 3rd. France, Pyrenees: British Air Ferry Ltd. DC-6 1967 June 3rd.U.K., Stockport, near Manchester Ringway Airport: a British Midlands Argonaut plane (British version of a DC-4) on a charter flight from Palma, Majorca crashed on landing approach into the center of Stockport, a suburb of Manchester. The plane broke up on impact; police and others from nearby offices started rescuing survivors within minutes. After about 10 minutes a major fuel explosion took place and engulfed the fuselage in flames. Local fire service were unable to control the blaze and numerous passengers trapped with broken legs and other injuries perished in the fire. 72 of the 84 people aboard died

USA, New York, JFK Airport: overseas national DC-10, engine explosion and fire during take-off 1976 February 8th.USA, California, Los Angeles, Van Nuys: A chartered DC-6 crash-landed on a golf course near Van Nuys Airport; while using a rotary saw to free trapped occupants leaking fuel ignited and injured 10 firefighters. Three flight crew members died on impact, while the three members of the cabin crew escaped with only minor injuries.
1976 April 17th. USA, Virgin Islands, St. Thomas Airport: American Airlines Boeing 727 from JFK landed on St. Thomas Airport, overshoot the runway and crashed into a gasoline station; 37 people died, 51 survived, only a few of them sustained severe burn injuries.
1976 May 23rd. Philippines, Mindanao, Zamboanga Airport, Philippine Airline BAC 1-11, hijacker hold aircraft on the 1976 August 6th. USA, Illinois, Chicago: Air Chicago Freight Aircraft, a converted B25 bomber crashed during an emergency landing at Midway airport; 2 pilots and 1 person on the ground died.

Yugoslavia, Zagreb: Mid-air collision between British Airways Trident and Yugoslav charter DC-9, 1976 December 25, Thailand, Bangkok: Egyptair Boeing 707 crashed on landing approach into a industrial area 1.5 miles short of the runway.
